SILVHER presented at the 4th International New Media Conference in Istanbul

Although there are many tourism guidance departments at Turkish universities, there is no museum guidance course in the curriculum. However, in the light of new technological developments, lessons of museum guidance seem to be included in the curriculum of the Faculties of Tourism with enriched content such as Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality (VR). Pamukkale University Faculty of Tourism (SILVHER) has started pioneering work on this subject with an Erasmus + project (http://www.silvher.eu).

Prof. Naci Polat, Tourism Guidance Department, Innovative Tourism at Tourism Faculty of Pamukkale University, has attended the 4th International New Media Conference, which has been organized by the New Media Department of Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) last 25-26 April 2019.

Call for the selection of 30 students for the international course on “Digital Valorization of Cultural Heritage” (Deadline for applications extended to the 17th of May 2019)

Introduction

The blended course on the “Digital Valorization of Cultural Heritage” has been developed by the partners of the Erasmus+ project “SILVHER – Safeguarding Intangible and cultural Values and HERitage”(Project number 2018-1-IT02-KA203-048412).

The course will be activated in an experimental way for the Academic Year 2019-2020 and it will be open to only 30 international students regularly enrolled in a Bachelor or Master course at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro in Portugal, the University of Bari in Italy and the University of Pamukkale in Turkey. Each University will select the best 10 students based on the criteria listed below.

The course consists of three learning modules of 81 hours each (for a total of 243 hours) to be carried out following a blended approach from September 2019 to June 2020. Each module has been designed in order to offer 20 hours of online training, 40 hours of project-based learning and 21 final hours of face-to-face workshop in one of the countries represented in the SILVHER project.

2nd Partnership meeting in Patras

Hellenistic Open University will host the second partnership meeting in Patras (GR) on March 6-7.

Partners will meet for the presentation and validation of the technical aspects of the platform. Hellenistic Open University will showcase a beta versione of the learning platform.

The meeting will also offer the opportunity for partners to verify the state-of-the-art of curriculum development activities.

Kick-off Meeting in Bari

Under the framework of Erasmus+KA2 – Strategic Partnerships for Higher Education (Innovation) European Grants International Academy (EGINA) and the University of Bari (UNIBA) called a Kick-off meeting in Bari to launch the project S.I.L.V.HER.

The project Safeguarding Intangible and Cultural values and heritage (S.I.L.V.HER) connects 5 partners (EGINA, UNIBA, UTAD, Pamukkale Universitesi, Hellenic Open University) coming from Italy, Greece, Portugal, Turkey) together under one goal, which is to develop a blended course in Cultural Heritage. S.I.L.V.HER training path includes the digital tool, not only as a means of learning, but also and above all as a future means of developing a strategic sector that will support a process of European identity recognition.
